If you’re feeling challenged around carrying extra weight, chances are, you’re feeling a bit heavy in your body. But we can also feel “heavy” in our emotions.”

That’s because so many people give their power away to the scale and let themselves be controlled by the number on they see that day. Animals in nature aren’t constantly weighing themselves.

They have no problem with the body they are in. You can get to this place too. In this fascinating new video from IPEtv, Marc David, founder of the Institute for the Psychology of Eating, reveals how we can free ourselves from feeling bogged down by extra weight, and it doesn’t involve any sort of fad dieting. Discover how to take your power back from the scale and feel immensely lighter in this short video!

In the comments below, please let us know your thoughts. We love hearing from you and we read and respond to every comment!

Here is a transcript of this week’s video:

Greetings, friends. I’m Marc David, founder of the Institute for the Psychology of Eating. I want to talk to you about a secret for instant weight loss. I promise you this works. Now, if you think you weigh too much and if you think you are too heavy, I’ve got a foolproof strategy so you can be a heck of a lot lighter in an instant. I’m going to give it to you right now.

Throw away your scale.

You know the thing you measure yourself on? You know that mean little machine that you have given your power to? We give our power to the scale to determine how happy we should be. And it’s a little machine. By the way, when you throw that scale away, you can’t just throw it away. You first need to crush it. You need to make sure you kill it so it can never come back again. You’ve got to wrap it up, hit it with a hammer, whatever you need to do.

The scale is actually making you feel heavy. It weighs you down. Stop giving your power away to a number. We look at the scale. “Oh, my goodness. I lost a pound. I feel good!” “Oh, but no! I gained a pound. I feel bad.” And that little number on that little scale then determines our life for the day. It determines our light. It determines our dignity. And you have to reclaim your dignity. You’re giving your power away.

And when you give away your power, you get dense.

You get apathetic. You get heavy. And you feel even heavier. One of the instant ways to lighten up is to lighten your emotional load. Lighten your spiritual load. Do you really think people are looking at you and going, “Huh, it looks like she gained a pound today. I don’t like her.” Nobody cares.

By the way, you take your scale. Do this experiment. Before you throw out your scale, move it around to seven different places in your house. It’s going to give you seven different numbers. It’s the most inaccurate little machine you can possibly have.

Animals in nature aren’t weighing themselves. You go past by a field of cows. Cows are not hanging around going, “Oh, my God. Did I gain a few pounds today? Are people going to love me?” They’re fine as they are. Now, humans in their natural state, we don’t weigh ourselves. We’re people. We’re real. We go about our business.
So you need to do an experiment. That’s what I’m telling you. If you’re the kind of person that weighs your self every day, you know who you are.

If you’ve given your power away to the machine, take it back.

So for four months—I mean that—four months, don’t weigh yourself. Feel yourself. Feel your body. Feel how it feels because when you let go of the scale, when you let go of the ways that you’ve been draining your own energy and making yourself heavy, you begin to reclaim your life. You begin to feel lighter. And of life comes in in a good way.

And all of a sudden, your eating issues start to let go of themselves because you’re loving your body for the first time because you’ve removed some shackles from it. And all you had to do was notice where you were enslaving yourself to a number that doesn’t mean anything to who you really are. And when you liberate yourself in that way, life opens up.

And that, my friends, is the magic of life.
