Here is a transcript of this week’s video:
Greetings friends, I’m Marc David, Founder of the Institute for the Psychology of Eating.
I want to talk about a secret to turbocharge any detox or cleansing diet.
Now, here’s the good news: there’s a lot of people these days who are fasting, cleansing, detoxing. And what I want to say is this is one of the most beautiful, powerful nutritional strategies of our times. Why? Because when you cleanse, when you detox, when you fast, I’m talking water-fast, juice-fast, all the herbal cleansing systems, there’s so many different kinds, we’re not going to talk about which one is better or which one is worse, it doesn’t matter, the point is this is a powerful strategy because we live in a toxic world so we must adapt to the times. And we have to get the body clean. And one of the beautiful ways to do that is through various fasting and cleansing programs. So, I don’t care what kind of cleansing diet you’re on, what kind of detoxing strategy you’re on, I’m going to share with you a secret that will turbocharge any of those to help you detox faster, and it’s this:
When you detox your mind, you detox your body.
I want to say that again. When you detox your mind, you’re detoxing your body. Why? Because mind and body exist on a continuum. So many traditional cultures and philosophies and religions and great thinkers have known this. The Hindus had a beautiful saying, they said, “The mind is rarified body, and the body is solidified mind.” And all of that is a way of saying that mind and body exist on a continuum. You impact one, you impact the other.
Most people, when they go on a cleansing diet, they’re trying to get the poisons out of their physiology and that’s a beautiful thing. But we have poisons in the mind. And it’s nonsense poisons, it’s all the stupid things, all the nonsense you tell yourself. “I’m no good, I’m not enough, I’m not loveable, I need to look different, I need to make more money,” all the things that we say that give ourselves conditional love, that prove to ourselves we’re not okay as we are right now.
Now think about this for a moment: fasting and cleansing is an ancient strategy.
It’s been around forever. Cultures, traditions from the past, you can read about it in the Bible for goodness’ sake! And when the prophets of old went out into the wilderness to go on a fast and to cleanse, they didn’t do it to look good in a bikini, they did it so they can have a vision. They did it so they can get connected to the truth of who they were, and to empower their life on a deeper level. They were cleaning out their system of the world, of the culture, of the thoughts, of all the chatter that’s in the head, and get rid of the mind pollution so we can get down to the business of what’s the purity that’s really there.
So if you’re spending your days gossiping, if you’re speaking ill of other people, if you’re constantly doing self-attack, if you’re holding grudges that you need to let go of, if you’re hanging on to negativity in your mind and in your heart, you start to lose your light. We lose our energy. And it’s easier for us to become toxified. So when you go on a fast, when you go on a cleanse, notice what wants to leave your life. Notice the old habits. Notice the old thoughts. Notice the poisonous beliefs that you have [and realize] that all you have to do is just let go of them. Don’t hang on to them so much. Because when we clean our inner house, the body house cleans as well, and what a beautiful thing. And when you clean the body you also clean the mind.
It’s circular. It’s beautiful.
And that, my friends, is the magic of life.
I hope this was helpful!
