My life as an eating psychology coach with Vicky Mitchell

What made you want to become an Eating Psychology Coach?

At 53 my passion for learning, teaching, eating and helping others led me to my migration from being a stay-at-home mom and homeschooler into a healing coach. The first step was receiving my holistic health coaching certification. Yet, I longed for a deeper understanding of my emotional eating and was ready to harmonize my relationship with food. Spirit led me to The Institute For The Psychology Of Eating’s (IPE) Eating Psychology Coach Certification Training.

What do you love about being an Eating Psychology Coach?

The flexible multidimensional learning platform ensured my understanding of the material. The hands on exercises increased my understanding of myself and others. I was amazed to realize that I was not alone in my struggles with my relationship with food. I also felt empowered by the community atmosphere of like-minded students and staff. This Training and the live graduation event in Boulder gave me the self-confidence and courage to stop hiding my gifts and to share them by making myself a priority.

What does your practice look like?

Part of this journey was to implement their philosophy of one step at a time. For me this is a slow transition from a part time career to full time one by the fall of 2018. In 2015 I enjoyed working in person and via Skype with a few clients. Even though I specialized in gluten free and dairy free lifestyles, I rarely spoke about the food unless I was demoing at a class. Instead, I guided my clients to look at how they ate and their underlying feelings. In addition, I became an Amazon best-selling author for my first book Affirm Love – Thirty Ways To Remember You Are Loved. Intuitively, I knew 2016 would be a year of increased self-healing while writing.

How did your education at the Institute prepare you to work successfully with clients?

My training at IPE was my foundation for my seven month healing journey of my intense skin inflammation by looking at my mind, body, and spirit to learn to love and heal my imbalances. As my body harmonized, I evolved into a healing coach who empowers others to improve their health and joy by reducing stress the easy way. As I learned in the Training, I often asked myself “what was the universe guiding me to do?”

What was your favorite aspect of the Training?

I found the most helpful aspect of the training was the videos and audios that you could refer back to as often as I was guided. A close second was the forum where I connect with fellow students and staff.

How has being an Eating Psychology Coach impacted your professional life/financial well-being?

It gave me the courage to voice my truths and to become a published author and speaker.

How has being an Eating Psychology Coach impacted you personally?

It helped me understand my emotional eating and to be as kind and loving to myself as I am to others.

What do you see for yourself in your future as an Eating Psychology Coach – where is your work evolving towards?

I specialize in stress management and how we eat and what we think about the food we eat has a huge impact on our stress levels. I will continue to write, see clients, give talks/workshops. I am about to release my first Nourish U healing deck and will give my first distention retreat at the Ritz Residence at Vail next October. I will continue to empower myself and others to increase play and joy into their lives and teach how we relate to food is a metaphor to how we do life.

Why Would You Recommend the Training to Others?

I am blessed in many ways and one of which is becoming an Eating Psychology Coach. I would recommend the Training to anyone who wants to increase their understanding of themselves ad others and who have a desire/passion to serve. Sending everyone, love, light and laughter,
Vicky
