My life as an eating psychology coach with Stefanie Schoffel

What made you want to become an Eating Psychology Coach?

All my life I had issues with food and body. At the beginning I just thought this was a new diet I was going to try out. I immediately realized that this was not another diet. It was the overlooked ingredient I was missing my entire life. When I read what the Training was about, I had a feeling in my gut this was going to be a life changing experience. It absolutely was. Not only did my relationship with food and body improve, but I also found out I want to help others improve their relationship with food and body as well.

What do you love about being an Eating Psychology Coach?

What I love most about being an Eating Psychology Coach is, when I am with a client I feel the most fulfilled. This coaching is not about fixing our clients but about teaching them to fall in love with themselves again. And that’s why this work is so fulfilling. You create the space to develop human connection based on acceptance and self-love, where not only my clients learn, but I learn as well. Being able to coach has become the best therapy for myself.

What does your practice look like?

I feel my practice is constantly changing and evolving. I keep in mind the basic guidelines of the Training. I also like to listen to what my intuition says, allowing space for the spontaneous and unexpected moments to show up and see what they have to say. I have clients that live in the U.S, in Caracas, Peru, and Argentina. Most of them I see by either by phone or Skype/Facetime. When I am in the area (mostly Miami and Caracas), I see them in person. I have clients of different ages. They are athletes, moms, clients with eating disorders, and business women and men.

How did your education at the Institute prepare you to work successfully with clients?

The Institute not only gave me the tools to coach people but also gave me the confidence that I can help other people as well. I think part of my growing success is that during the Training I was not only a student, but I was also just another client. I was simply seeking to learn and grow personally. Being first a client gave me the opportunity of experiencing my personal transformation. This experience is what has enabled me to develop amazing coaching skills.

What was your favorite aspect of the Training?

One aspect of the Training I liked was the fact that I could learn at my own pace and time. The material is very complete: you have the videos, which by themselves are so rich in information, and you also have the printable handouts that support the information from the videos. My very favorite part of the Training was the Live event at the end of the course. The opportunity for getting to know other people’s stories, and the human connection that was created, was the most amazing experience I have had in my entire life.

How has being an Eating Psychology Coach impacted your professional life/financial well-being?

This Training has given me the opportunity to finally make a career shift. I used to not know what my professional life would look like. With this Certification I can do what I love and earn money at the same time. I find it so important that one has to love what you do and do what you love. And I finally found it!

How has being an Eating Psychology Coach impacted you personally?

This program truly transformed my life. I suffered from bulimia for around 10 years, and I kept it as a secret all my life. I actually thought I was never going to be able to tell that story, but with the Training I learned to transform the “garbage” of blame and shame I had inside me into my treasure. I learned to forgive myself and make peace with my past. Even though my eating disorder improved almost entirely before starting the Training, I also realized I still had unresolved issues in my life regarding food and body image. Doing this Training helped me identify these issues, and today I can say I am a better person with more love and acceptance towards myself.

What do you see for yourself in your future as an Eating Psychology Coach – where is your work evolving towards?

I see myself in so many ways! With individual clients, giving out speeches at schools, at Universities, to a small group of people, and hopefully someday to a huge crowd! I also see myself teaching. My dream is to get to as many people as possible. It’s funny, all my life I have constantly imagined myself giving out speeches. I never knew about what and how. Today this dream is coming closer to becoming true. I also see myself incorporating the wisdom of this Training with some kind of exercise/movement system. I want to develop a system way more gentle and different than what’s out there. As much as I believe that all the work for self-improvement is done in the mind, heart & soul, I also believe if we learn to move our body, we can also achieve great transformation.

Why Would You Recommend the Training to Others?

The type of relationship we have with food is also the same type of relationship we have with life. Learning how this relationship with food really is gives us so much valuable information of which areas of life we can work on and improve. This is an amazing opportunity for anyone that simply wants to become a better person. The world needs change. There is so much suffering out there, and I think it’s time we all start doing something about it. The best and only place to start is with ourselves. We owe it to ourselves, and we owe it to our future generations. We all deserve to heal, learn, and grow.

Anything else you’d like to share?

It doesn’t matter what you did or who you were in the past. What matters is what you can do now. True peace and happiness require action. And this is a fantastic place to start!
