What made you want to become an Eating Psychology Coach?
I wanted to become an Eating Psychology Coach even before I knew this term or that something like this actually existed. Because of my own intense and life-threatening struggle with eating and body image when I was younger and the lack of profound help I experienced. I had to find answers for myself. I soon noticed that I was by far not the only one struggling with food. The longing to help others grew stronger and stronger. When I actually found the Institute for the Psychology of Eating and the Coach Certification Training, I felt like coming home after a long and lonely journey and immediately knew that this was what I hoped for and dreamed of for such a long time!
What do you love about being an Eating Psychology Coach?
I love this work so much because of its truly holistic nature and the profound impact it can have for so many people, because of its never-ending spectrum of ways to really listen, see, and ultimately help them to feel better! I also love it because it addresses issues and problems that aren’t necessarily visible and might even be considered taboo, but are very real and contribute to holding us back and keeping us small. In doing this work, we not only change the conversation, we also initiate real transformation and personal as well as cultural growth and liberation.
What does your practice look like?
At the moment, I am not specialized in any way, because I truly feel the need to stay open and learn and grow as much as I can from practicing. I mostly see clients in person, but also on the phone and on Skype. Until now, I did only one-to-one consultations, but I am planning to do group work as well as public talks in the future.
How did your education at the Institute prepare you to work successfully with clients?
Everything we learned during the Training at IPE was an excellent preparation to actually work with clients! For me, personal growth and learning always comes first and prepares you best, especially when you are in a helping profession. And besides the fact that everyone in the Training did have some experience in personal and spiritual growth before, the Training offered such a wonderful and extensive opportunity to grow personally and really on all levels – professionally, spiritually, interpersonally.
What was your favorite aspect of the Training?
First, I loved the fact that it was an online program that I could do from Europe, where I live! It gave me the freedom to fully immerse whenever I needed and wanted to. Everything was composed so perfectly, from the timing of the modules to the slides and videos and the recommended reading list, and of course the live calls with Marc! Graduating, I thought this was the best educational experience of my life, only to be even more surprised and blown away by the live event I was able to attend a few months after graduating. It was amazing and so empowering!
How has being an Eating Psychology Coach impacted your professional life/financial well-being?
As I mentioned above, being an Eating Psychology Coach to me is like a dream come true and it opened up so many new possibilities in my professional life. I am still in the building phase of my business and in the middle of transitioning into becoming a full time Eating Psychology Coach, so it might be too early to predict where this leads me. But I can already tell that my professional life has become so much more interesting and fulfilling, even by starting practicing this work!
How has being an Eating Psychology Coach impacted you personally?
This whole Training and experience gave me more freedom than I ever thought was possible! Every aspect of my life, my family, my relationships (including the one with myself) and my perspective on life grew to be more harmonious, kinder, more honest, and courageous. The transformations were and still are very subtle, yet profound and sometimes take time to reveal themselves. At the same time, they are omnipresent and amazing.
What do you see for yourself in your future as an Eating Psychology Coach – where is your work evolving towards?
I see myself with a growing business, being able to reach more and more people with this work as I want to not only work locally, but also globally. I hope to be able to contribute to making this work more public and to create a different awareness when it comes to how we treat ourselves and our relationship with our body, with food, and with each other. As I value teaching very much, I hope to someday be able to also teach this body of work.
Why Would You Recommend the Training to Others?
I would recommend this Training to everybody who is truly searching for answers, whether in the realm of body image and food or personal growth and transformation. It is for anyone who also feels the need for new ways and evolution in this regard and wants to change his or her own world for the better as well as contribute to a shift for our whole society.
Although I tried to put it into words and answer all the questions, I feel like I cannot describe how much it actually means to me to be part of this tribe! And to know that I am not alone in this, but surrounded by this great community of wonderful people all around the world, who are also doing everything they can to grow and learn and make this place a kinder, more loving one. Thank you!
