A Letter from the Chief Operating Officer

Dear Friends,

Thank you so much for your interest in the Institute for the Psychology of Eating. My name is Emily Rosen and I’m the Chief Operating Officer for the Institute. I wear quite a few hats in my role – I make sure all the details of running the Institute go smoothly, I oversee student affairs, I direct our marketing efforts, and I keep a pulse on the fields of nutrition and eating psychology to make sure that we continue to be leaders in our profession. I’ve also gone through all of the Trainings at the Institute and can testify that these were not only a professionally expansive experience, but an illuminating personal journey as well.

I am thrilled to work with the Institute and to be part of a growing movement of coaches, counselors, healers, and educators who are bringing in a whole new paradigm around eating issues, weight, food psychology and nutrition. Like so many of you, I’ve been quite committed to my own educational experience. I’m certified as a nutrition consultant, eating psychology counselor, yoga instructor, and natural foods chef. I’ve continued to train extensively in mind body nutrition, conscious sex education, and group facilitation. Teaching and managing nutrition and culinary programs on the east and the west coast has given me invaluable experience, working intimately with hundreds of individuals. And it has only made it more apparent to me how necessary the type of deeper soulful work we do here at IPE really is. I’m honored to be working at the Institute, and supporting a mission I so profoundly believe in.

Perhaps one of the most important lessons I’ve learned as a professional is that far too many of the strategies we use for helping others simply don’t address the whole person – mind, body and spirit. It touches my heart to see so many people in need of help around their health, weight or body image. I’ve watched so many men, women and children struggle with eating issues, often in secret, not knowing where to go for help. I’ve also worked hard over the years to understand and heal my own challenges around eating and body image. Perhaps this is one of the greatest qualifications we can have when it comes to helping others – our ability to work on our own relationship with food and self.  You don’t need to have the perfect body or perfect diet to do this work. You simply need a sincere desire to serve.

At the Institute, we’re committed to teaching a whole new way to work with clients and students that truly delivers results, and looks at people in a holistic and integrative way.
